At Notary Public Underwriters, we believe being ecologically friendly can also be economically viable. We are fully committed to reducing our carbon footprint and building a sustainable earth. Similar to all other areas of our company, we are constantly seeking new ways to improve and protect our environment.

Energy Efficient:
We installed a 25kW solar Photovoltaic system in May 2007 and an additional system in 2019, powering majority of the business’ energy needs. The solar PV system saves over 27 tons of coal from being burned each year. Our lighting is energy efficient, and we use motion detectors to turn off key lights when not in use. All windows in our building have tinted film to reduce HVAC energy consumption.

Products and Shipping:
We use biodegradable packing peanuts in shipping over 60,000 products each year. The use of these environmentally friendly materials prevents 288 cubic feet of solid waste from ending up in our environment annually. All stamps we produce are completely free from harmful heavy metals such as zinc, calcium or lead which may be dangerous or damaging to the environment.

Recycling:
Notary Public Underwriters has always made a conscious effort to recycle paper, cardboard, aluminum, light bulbs, batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges and computer components. Our recycling efforts save 13 tons of paper, 560 pounds of aluminum and 6 tons of cardboard from entering a landfill each year.

Nature:
Notary Public Underwriters built 3 on-site rain gardens, in addition to the required storm run-off pond, to prevent pollutants from traveling downstream by allowing the water to percolate directly to the ground. Our rain gardens prevent precious downstream water from being polluted and soil from eroding.

Employee Participation:
Our employees saw the company’s participation in the Green Revolution and decided to take the idea home. Many staff members have started recycling with their families and have switched to energy-efficient light bulbs.

Earth Day is a good time for us to evaluate our current green efforts and search for areas of improvement. We encourage everyone to look for more ways to protect our environment. Remember, even a small thing can be a step in the right direction.
